Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about My Sub Hub — the community platform for dance professionals.
Platform Philosophy
Why My Sub Hub exists and what it's designed to be
Why isn't My Sub Hub a student booking platform?
My Sub Hub was built to support the professional side of dance — studios and instructors coordinating real work. We intentionally do not offer student booking or direct consumer hiring.
Here's why:
- Studios need context, not volume
- Instructors need professional boundaries
- Public booking platforms often create noise, not better outcomes
Instead of acting as a marketplace, My Sub Hub focuses on helping professionals share relevant information, supporting coverage and coordination between studios and instructors, and keeping communication intentional and work-focused.
Students and the public may view informational profiles, but participation is limited to professionals. This keeps the platform useful, respectful, and aligned with how studios actually operate.
My Sub Hub isn't about transactions. It's about context.
Will there ever be public-facing features?
We do plan to expand public visibility thoughtfully over time — but not with the intent of becoming a gig marketplace or review platform.
Any public-facing features will be designed to provide context and visibility, not access. The goal is always to support professional coordination, not to create consumer transactions.
For classes, programs, or enrollment, please contact studios directly.
What makes My Sub Hub different from other platforms?
Most platforms optimize for volume — more users, more bookings, more transactions. My Sub Hub optimizes for relevance.
- We don't set rates or take cuts from work
- We don't algorithmically favor anyone
- We don't expose instructors to unsolicited contact
- We don't sell user data or use third-party ad networks
We're infrastructure for dance professionals — not a marketplace for consumers.

Coverage Requests
How coverage requests work for studios and instructors
What are coverage requests?
Coverage requests are how studios and instructors find substitutes for classes. When you can't teach a scheduled class, you can post a request to find a qualified sub.
Studios can post requests for their classes, and instructors can also post requests for their own scheduled classes at studios where they teach.
What's the difference between public and private requests?
Public Requests
Visible to all instructors in your area who match the requirements. Good for reaching a wide pool of available subs.
Private Requests
Sent directly to specific instructors you choose. Only those instructors can see and respond to the request. Ideal when you have preferred subs in mind.
How do applications work?
When an instructor applies to cover a class, the requester reviews their profile, experience, and any message they include with their application.
- Instructors can apply with an optional personal message
- Requesters can accept, decline, or message applicants
- Once accepted, both parties receive confirmation
- Declined applicants are notified but details remain private
Can instructors post their own coverage requests?
Yes. If you're an instructor with regularly scheduled classes at a studio, you can post coverage requests for your own classes when you need a sub.
This is helpful when you need time off and want to find your own replacement rather than leaving it to the studio.
